Have you been actively involved in your community in the past, and are you looking for an opportunity to do the same at university? Want to have a voice in your new home? Join any or all of our residence committees and get the most out of your rez life experience!
There are many different ways you can choose to get involved in residence life at Bishop’s. Each of these committees is on a volunteer basis, and there is no requirement to join them save for a bit of your time. This is also a great way to get experience for a future position in student government, the Residence Life Team, or any number of other campus leadership positions.

Residence Athletics Committee (RAC): This group of residents helps to support our vibrant intramural program on campus and find fun ways for residents to stay active all year round. This year RAC will promote and encourage intramural participation and organize Sunday sports. In addition to this RAC will also organize one residence wide athletic event per month, and encourage students to get out to a weekly fitness night. Previous residence wide events have included a ski trip to a local hill, a GAIT fundraiser and a dodgeball tournament. To promote active living, RAC has also created and circulated a "Stay Active" newsletter. If you love sports and recreation and want to share that passion with your fellow residents, RAC is for you!
Campus Dining Committee: The Dining Committee is comprised of students, staff and faculty who come together to discuss ways to improve food service on campus. It is a chance to identify what is working well and what areas can be focused on to better meet the needs of the campus community and residence students in particular. Everything from the menu to service issues can be addressed. Staff from Sodexo and the Director of Residence & Conference Services also sit on the committee.
Residence Events Committee (REC): This group of residents helps to support the goals of Residence Life by planning residence wide events. This is a great way to contribute to your community and help make Bishop's residence a better place to live and play. Last year this committee planned and ran events like a pumpkin carving night anda speed dating event, as well as hosting the year-end residence banquet. If you have great ideas and want a way to get involved, this is an ideal opportunity for you!
Residence Education (RED): Help foster development, awareness and change within your residence community and guide how this group will evolve. The mandate for RED is to promote peer-to-peer educational opportunities; be it week long awareness programs around topics like sexual health or connecting with local outreach programs, this committee's focus will be dictated by whoever gets involved - so be a part of this new and engaging group!
