Residence Life Program

Mission Statement

To develop a residence life atmosphere conducive to personal and educational growth, and respect for oneself and others. To foster among all residents, mutual trust, and an ever increasing sense of responsibility, maturity, personal worth, and ownership of the Residence Life Program. To accomplish our mission through cooperation among permanent Residence Staff, Resident Assistants (R.A.s) and all students living in residence, and through consultation and ongoing communication with relevant committees, departments, and associations external to Residence and Conference Services.

Why Live in Residence?

Residence is more than just a room in a building, and far, far more than just an apartment on campus. Choosing to live in residence means involving yourself in a community of people who are about your age, share your interests, and are all at about the same stage in their lives.

In residence, you will be able to meet and bond with students from across Canada and around the world. You will belong to a network of students that share friendships that extend far beyond your years in residence.

Residence is also a convenient lifestyle choice. By staying on-campus, you have immediate access to the library, athletic complex, academic buildings, recreational facilities and student support services - including a health clinic, an employment centre and a number of computer labs. Your placement on campus - and enforced quiet hours, (particularly around exam time) - will also allow you to concentrate on your studies like never before.

Few residences are like those at Bishop's: located on a picturesque green (or white, depending on the season) campus bordering bike trails, forest paths and a golf course, with the Massawippi river running alongside it.

The Bishop's residence community has already given countless B.U. students the chance to learn more about themselves, take responsibility for their part in the residence community, and to start their university career on the right foot with one of the best experiences of their lives. Join them - and us - for an unforgettable first step in your post-secondary academic career!
