When you submit your completed residence application and $500.00 deposit, you are committing to live in residence for the 8-month school year (September to April).
$500.00 Canadian is required with your application form. Payment can be made with a cheque drawn on a Canadian bank, through internet banking, or an international money order. The $500.00 payment covers the following:
- $50.00 application fee for residence (all students pay this amount - non-refundable)
- $50.00 activity fee (all students pay this amount)
- $380.00 rent advance for September's room and meal plan charges
- $20.00 mattress cover fee
The above amounts are refundable according to the terms and conditions outlined in section 3 on the front page of the residence application form.
International students must pay for the entire semester of residence at the beginning of each academic registration period. In other words, international students are not able to pay residence on a monthly basis and must pay each semester in full at the appropriate time (September 9th, 2013 for the Fall semester and January 13th, 2014 for the Winter semester).
Please note:
- You are required to sign an 8 month lease (September to April) which is a binding legal document.
- If you are on exchange at Bishop's University for both the Fall and Winter Semester, Residence closes for a period of time between the first and second semester (late December - early January). Please refer to the University Sessional Dates for information on when the University is closed.
- If you are on exchange at Bishop's University for only one semester (e.g. September - December) and your period of study at Bishop's is over, you should complete a Break Lease form (available in November at the Residence and Conference Services Customer Service counter) before returning to your home university. Return the completed form to Residence and Conference Services prior to the end of November in order to avoid any cancellation penalties.
