In 2001, the University created the Research Office whose mission is to assist faculty at all stages of their research initiatives. The Research Office is responsible for:
- Ensuring the proper management of research grants;
- Providing information to academic staff concerning funding opportunities;
- Providing assistance and guidance to faculty members in the preparation of grant applications to the funding agencies;
- Promoting research achievements on campus, in the media and on the Web
- Networking with funding agencies, universities, and other partners;
- Offering support to the Research Ethics Board, the Animal Care Committee and the Senate Research Committee;
- Supporting researchers in the protection and commercialization of their inventions
