1. What is L.E.A.P.?
L.E.A.P. stands for Leadership and Extra-Curricular Activity Profile. This co-curricular record is designed to verify and validate a student’s leadership positions, organizational memberships, and other significant involvement in activities outside of the classroom not documented on the academic transcript. The University endorses this certificate as an official document when signed by the Dean of Student Affairs. Enrollment in the L.E.A.P. program is completely voluntary and must be initiated by the student.
2. Why do I need a LEAP certificate?
L.E.A.P. provides students a credible, official listing of their accomplishments outside the classroom to complement an academic transcript and resume for applications to graduate school and prospective employers.
3. When should I start my LEAP?
As soon as you have committed to an activity, you should access myLEAP and add this activity to your profile. After logging on to LEAP, review the LEAP Activities Listing. There are over 700 activities to choose from. Make a note of the validator associated with the ones you choose.
4. Is there a time frame or deadline?
Definitely! You must add all your activities each academic year by March 30. However, we strongly recommend creating a profile as soon as you are fully committed to activities. Activities will not be retroactive which means that students will be responsible for updating their profile throughout the academic year to ensure that all activities are verified and validated in a timely manner. Activities added later than the deadline date will not be eligible. We acknowledge every students accomplishments but due to the turnover of validators each year, it is not feasible to add activities retroactive.
5. Activities documented are never for academic credit.
