Preparation for entry into the Bachelor of Education programme requires
successful completion of a B.A. or B.Sc. with a Minor in Education which
prepares students to teach in two subject areas (teachables). The minimum
requirements for entry into the B.Ed. programme is a Major in the first teachable
and a Minor in the second teachable.
Discipline requirements:
- a major in the first teaching discipline. The number of credits required for the
major is according to the current requirements for the teaching disciplines as
determined within the Humanities, Science and Social Science Divisions for
students enrolled in a Minor in Education. Students who are enrolled in the
Science Teaching Major are not required to complete a major in the first teaching
discipline and a minor in the second teaching discipline.

The approved teaching subjects for the programme are: Biology, Chemistry,
Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, English, French as a Second
Language, Spanish, Geography, History, Drama, Music and Fine Arts. To ensure
the selection of appropriate courses in the teaching areas, students can obtain a
list of approved courses by contacting the Secretary of the School of Education.
