Transportation in the Eastern Townships is a direct factor in the economy and settlement of the region. Through examining the Pre-railway Era including roads and waterways, the Railway Era, especially the impacts of lines such as the Grand Trunk and the SS&C, and the Automobile Era, one can see how the idea and availability of transportation helped shape the geography and history of the Eastern Townships.
