To choose which sport Ron was more proficient at, football or hockey, is an impossibility; he excelled at both. Ron was also active on numerous university committees while a student. After graduation Ron played for a number of years with the Montreal Alouettes in the CFL. Returning to Bishop’s in 1976 he became an invaluable member of the university’s athletic department until 1960. LARRY
SMITH Without doubt Larry was the most outstanding running back to ever wear a Gaiter uniform. Larry also played varsity hockey making him one of the university’s most outstanding athletes. After graduation Larry went on to a lengthy nine-year Canadian Football League career while attaining a law degree from McGill. A past president of the Alumni Association, Larry has become a successful businessman and has served as Commissioner of the CFL, president of the Montreal Alouettes and is presently the publisher of the Montreal Gazette. |
