Wednesday, Oct. 3th

We just finished up a long week of hard practices going into our homecoming game against Sherbrooke.  We managed to show what we can do against Concordia when we stopped lollygagging around (yes that is a word, Chas was right) and started to get back to playing BU rugby, hard hitting and low running.  A quick note to any fans that were at the game, I have never seen someone so rattled as Concordia’s winger.  Maybe he should have just stayed at back home at the chocolate factory Bundy.  But of course it was all in good fun as the Concordia winger put it after the game. We came back from a 5-0 deficit at half and with a try for the ages from our fullback Chris Sawers, who had been mia for the most part leading up to the game, we showed up to the party to make it 10-5.  Chris Caza-Pugh rumbled through a handful of players and made it 10-10.  Concordia put another try up on us but rookie Matty P. blew down the wing and scored in the corner to tie up the game.  The pressure was on for Sam Campbell (last year’s mvp) to slot one.  Everyone held their breath as the ball sailed through the uprights and then queue the explosion. With a near heart attack from Robson after we managed to miss a chance to put the ball out of play thus ending the game we pulled off the win.  Everyone on and off the field went crazy and when the final whistle blew it was 17-15.   MVP of the game went to Eric Sanderson for his unrelenting defence and to Caza for well, playing like Caza.

The homecoming game was unfortunately not as memorable as the rest of the weekend.  It was a tight defence struggle with Sherbrooke scoring a lucky try off a bounce.  The backs came out flat on offence and stayed flat despite playing good defence.  We hope to show some our potential this week when McGill packs their cleats and their teapots and makes the road trip to Lennoxville.  It should be a good game and Jeff or I will keep you posted on the results.  We’re getting our lives together so from now on the posts will be more frequent.  Thanks to all the support at our last 3 games at home and lets show McGill what BU rugby is all about.
