Roy – Bishop’s ‘93 A Bishop’s Business and Economics graduate, Damien Roy has been Head Coach since 2000 when he began the Bishop’s Lacrosse Program. Currently, Roy balances his duties as Head Coach with those of Director of Recruitment at the University. In the off season, Roy is very involved in the Eastern Townships Minor systems as a coach, referee and board member. Roy also is an activate voice in the development of Quebec lacrosse at the provincial and national level. He is the vice-president of the Quebec Referees Association and on the Canadian Lacrosse Association’s national coaching committee. Before Quebec Box Lacrosse ended in 1988, Roy played Junior B in Sherbrooke, as a goaltender, from 1986 to 1988. Damien Roy resides in Sherbrooke
with his girlfriend Sophie. Rob Engelken – Syracuse ‘84 Engelken's knowledge of lacrosse spans over 30 years as a player at LaFayette
Central HS (N.Y.), and Syracuse University, to an assistant coach at
Division I University of Vermont. Engelken is the Director of the Lake Champlain Lacrosse Club, and runs many
camps and tournaments. Rob has coached HS lacrosse for over 10 years,
and has been recently coaching youth teams in Vermont. Rob is also the
Head Alpine Coach at Bolton Valley Resort. Rob Engelken resides in Shelburne, Vermont with his wife Gwyn and son Taber. Sylvain Laroche
– Bishop’s ‘03 Sylvain Laroche
returns to coach at Bishop's, where he originally learned to play
lacrosse back when the program started in 2000. Laroche graduated in 2003 with a
Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in marketing, and
captained the team in his final season. He was also an assistant coach for
the 2005 season. Since 2000, Laroche has been playing in the
Quebec Senior Lacrosse League where he has won five league championships with
three
different teams. Laroche has been to two President's Cups (Canadian Senior "B"
Box Lacrosse Championships), including winning the bronze medal in 2008 with the Kahnawake Mohawks. Laroche has also represented Quebec in many national field
lacrosse championships as a member of the Wakefield Black Sheep. Presently Laroche is Director of Sales and
Development for Renaissance Stairs in Daveluyville, Que. Before Bishop's, Laroche
played 4 years of Junior A hockey and was on the Quebec provincial referee
staff. Sylvain Laroche resides on the south shore of
Montreal. |
