FOOTBALL
(4-5, 4-5 QUBL, 3rd)
Led by Turner's
record dash, Gaiters shine again at CFL Evaluation camp
Steven Turner set a new 40-yard dash record at
the CFL Evaluation Camp on Sunday in Toronto. The
fourth-year wide receiver/kick returner from Brampton, Ont. posted a
time of 4.31 seconds, shattering the mark of 4.39 seconds set by former
teammate Jamall Lee at last year's combine.
Turner's dash was the highlight of a strong weekend for himself, as well
as Shawn Gore and Nick Poloniato, the two other Gaiters at the
Evaluation Camp. Poloniato posted the third-best overall time, with 4.46
seconds, while Gore tied for fourth at 4.50 seconds.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY (7-12-2)
Women's Hockey goes 2-1-1 at Stowe Tournament
The Polar
Bears hit the ice for four games last weekend, as they traveled
to a tournament in Stowe, Vermont.
The Bears' first game, on Friday night, was against the hosts
from Stowe, and the Bears were able to take advantage of some
supple goaltending, as they cruised to a 9-0 victory. Taylor
Côté led the Polar Bears with a hat trick, while Emilee Walker
added two goals, and Elyse Driver, Sarah Bennett, Lane Laplante
and Erika Cook netted one each. Alysha McLeod picked up the
shutout in goal.
On Saturday, the
Bears played three games, starting with a 7-1 win over the
Motley Crew from Morrisville, Vt. Côté scored a pair of goals to
pace the Bears, while Driver, Walker, Laplante, Cook and Chantal
Richard each scored one, with McLeod picking up her second
straight win. The second game of the day proved to be more of a
test, as the Bears fought to a scoreless tie with the Green
Mountain Girls (Burlington, Vt.). Bianca Letarte picked up the
shutout for the Bears. The tournament final was a rematch with
the Green Mountain Girls. By this point, however, fatigue had
taken its toll as the Polar Bears suffered a torpid 2-0 shutout
loss. Alysha McLeod suffered the loss in goal for Bishop's.
