GOLF
(1321, 8th QSSF)
Gaiters remain in eighth place after second weekend
The second weekend
of the Golf season took place last weekend at the Le Marthelnois
club in Trois-Rivières, and the Gaiters remained in eighth place
despite a difficult couple of days.
After posting
aggregate scores of 318 and 329 the week before, the Gaiters
ballooned to 349 on Saturday, with only Olivier Genier breaking
80. On Sunday, the Gaiters rebounded to post an aggregate score
of 325. The Gaiters are currently in eighth place with a
four-round total of 1321, 19 strokes behind seventh-place
Sherbrooke and only 31 strokes out of fourth place. Laval
continues to lead with a 1219 aggregate, 39 strokes clear of
second-place Montreal.
Olivier Genier was
the low man for the weekend for the Gaiters, finishing with a
two-day total of 155 (77-78), while Dane Fitzpatrick posted a
score of 166 (89-76). James Miles scored 174 (90-84), while
David Arksey (189) and John Miles (190) trailed behind.
The individual
championship is determined by taking each players' low score
from the preliminary rounds, and adding them to the three rounds
at the Provincial Championship. On that basis, Laing and Genier
and Fitzpatrick will bring in their low rounds of 76, six
strokes off the lead.s
