THE RECORDS: The Gaiters come into the tournament with a 6-5 overall record, and are 2-3 in QUBL play. The Gaiters have lost three of their last four games, after rattling off a four-game winning streak earlier in the season.

LAST TIME OUT: The Gaiters split their last weekend of the regular season, as they notched a 73-61 win over Concordia, but fell 72-66 to UQAM. In the loss to UQAM, Katy Germain scored a season-high 17 points, while Jessy Roy grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds.

LAST MEETINGS: The Gaiters last played Brock two years ago, on December 29, 2007 at the Concordia Reebok Invitational, scoring a 75-60 win. The last matchup between the Gaiters and Laurier was on November 21, 2004, an 80-63 Hawks win at the Sea-Hawks Invitational in St. John’s. That matchup came on the heels of a 76-61 Gaiters win in the 2004 CIS Consolation Semi-final. The Gaiters and Warriors have not met since October 26, 2001, a 66-46 Gaiters win at the Laurentian Invitational in Sudbury, Ontario.

ONTARI-ARI-O: The Gaiters have played only one game against an OUA team so far this year, a 51-43 loss to then-No. 3 Windsor at the Alberta Pandas Hoopfest in Edmonton.

RANKING MEMBERS: The Gaiters are currently receiving votes in the CIS Coaches’ Poll, after having been ranked as high as No. 7. Brock is also receiving votes in the poll, while Laurier and Waterloo are unranked.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: The Brock Badgers are 9-3 overall (8-3 CIS, 6-2 OUA), but have lost two of their last three games. The Laurier Golden Hawks are 9-7 overall (8-6 CIS, 3-5 OUA), but ended November on a two-game winning streak. Waterloo is 3-10 overall (3-9 CIS, 2-6 OUA), with losses in three of their last four games.

GERMAIN SUBJECT: Fourth-year swingman Katy Germain had a strong last weekend of the regular season, scoring 29 points in the season’s final two games. That brought her overall scoring average up to 10.0 points per game. On the Gaiters’ four-game winning streak, she averaged 14.0 points per game. Germain is shooting 37% from three-point range, and is tied for the team lead with 26 three-point goals.
