LENNOXVILLE - The Bishop's Gaiters Women's Basketball team split their final two games of the Alberta Pandas Hoopfest this weekend, finishing the weekend in a tie for second place with a 1-2 record. Windsor won the tournament as they were undefeated in three games, while Regina and Alberta also finished at 1-2.

SATURDAY: GAITERS 68, REGINA 64
Marie-Ève Lemoine's 14 points led the Gaiters to their first win of the season, a 68-64 triumph over the Regina Cougars. Lemoine was 6-for-12 from the field as she tied her career high for points in a game. Mélanie Ouellet-Godcharles added 13 points for the Gaiters, as she made three three-pointers.

The Gaiters trailed 34-31 at halftime, but narrowed the margin to one point after three quarters. A pair of free throws by rookie forward Bethan Chalke with 1:08 to go gave the Gaiters the lead for good, while Jessy Roy went 5-for-6 from the line in the last minute to put the game away.

Lemoine and Ouellet-Godcharles were the only Gaiters in double figures, while Roy finished with eight points, as did Katy Germain and Gabrielle Côté-Caouette. Four Cougars were in double figures, led by Carmen Stewart's 15 points.

The Gaiters shot 40% from the field, compared to Regina's 43.9%, and were outrebounded 34-27 by the Cougars.

SUNDAY: WINDSOR 51, GAITERS 43
A poor-shooting first half doomed the Gaiters on Sunday afternoon as they fell 51-43 to the Windsor Lancers (3-0). Bishop's shot only 5-for-24 (20.8%) from the field in the first half, and was held to single digits in each of the first two periods. The Lancers took advantage of the Gaiters' shooting woes to build up a 29-13 halftime lead as they cruised to their third straight victory. While Windsor's shooters went cold in the second half, the Gaiters were unable to get any closer than the eight-point final margin.

Mélanie Ouellet-Godcharles and Jessy Roy led the Gaiters with eight points each, while Gabrielle Côté-Caouette added seven. Three Lancers ended in double figures, with Iva Peklova scoring a game-high 14 points, while Jessica Clemencon and Bojana Kovacevic netted 11 each.

For the game, the Gaiters finished with a 30.6% shooting percentage, while Windsor finished at 31.1%. Windsor outrebounded Bishop's 44-24 and committed 29 turnovers, to the Gaiters' 22.

The Gaiters (1-2, 1-2 CIS) return to action in two weeks at the Don Grant Invitational in Moncton, N.B.
