Gaiter lacrosse alum named to Team Canada March 10, 2010 LENNOXVILLE - Mac Allen '07 has been named to Team Canada's final roster for the 2010 World Men's Lacrosse Championships. The team made the announcement of its final 24-man roster earlier this week. Allen, a Toronto native, played with the Gaiters men's lacrosse team from 2003-06 and is one of seven defenders to be named to the squad. He is the only player from the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association to make the national team.Allen is currently a member of the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League, and is in his fourth season in the NLL. He was drafted by the Toronto Nationals of Major League Lacrosse in the fourth round (24th overall) in the 2010 Supplemental Draft. Allen is one of two former Gaiters currently playing in the NLL, along with Nick Inch (Minnesota), and is the first Gaiters' lacrosse player to be named to a national team. The 2010 World Lacrosse Championships are scheduled for July 10-24, 2010 in Manchester, England. Canada is the defending world champion, having defeated the USA 15-10 in the 2006 championship. |
