LENNOXVILLE - Three Gaiters have been named to the East team for the 2009 East-West Bowl, to be held in London, Ont. on May 8. Representing the Gaiters this year will be running back Kyle Exumé (Brooklin, Ont.), wide receiver Olivier Mongeau (Sorel, Que.) and defensive tackle Junior Turner (Brampton, Ont.). The East-West Bowl, currently in its eighth season, is intended to showcase CIS players who will be eligible for the CFL draft after the following season. The East team features players from the Quebec University Football League, Atlantic University Sport, and Toronto, York, Ottawa and Queen's of the OUA, while the West squad is comprised of players from Canada West and the remaining OUA teams.

Exumé, a 5'10" 198 lb. Fine Arts major, has been a special teams force for the Gaiters, and has developed into one of the top special teams coverage men in the league. This year he led the team with 9.0 Special Teams Tackles (seven solo, four assisted), blocked a kick and recovered a fumble. In 2008, he made 13.5 special teams tackles (13 solo, 1 assisted), and forced a fumble. He was the co-winner of the team's Special Teams Player of the Year award. At running back, his home position, he carried five times for 21 yards.

Mongeau, a 6'2" 190 lb. Business major, made 27 catches for 419 yards and one touchdown in eight regular season games last year. After missing all of 2008 due to a pulmonary embolism, he returned to being one of the Gaiters' most reliable receivers. Including the playoff game, 28 of his 31 catches were for first downs.

Turner, a 6'3" 230 lb. Natural Sciences major, broke out this season, as he made 25.0 tackles (19 solo, 12 assisted) in eight games. He was fifth in the QUFL with 6.5 tackles for loss, and also forced a fumble and made one sack. He scored his first career touchdown with a 39-yard interception return on October 31, 2009 against Concordia.

The 2010 East-West Bowl is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, 2009 at 1 p.m. at TD Waterhouse Stadium in London, Ont.
