Gaiters Football prepares to host over 50 student-athletes

February 19, 2009

LENNOXVILLE - Bishop's Gaiters head football coach Leroy Blugh is pleased to announce that the Gaiters will welcome more than 50 student-athletes from Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes to Lennoxville today for the tenth annual Purple and Silver Weekend.

The Purple and Silver Weekend allows the Gaiters’ top recruiting prospects a tremendous opportunity to live the “Bishop’s Experience,” and get a sneak peek into what would await them should they decide to choose play for the Gaiters.

The prospects will be welcomed by members of the current team, coaches and alumni at the Purple and Silver Dinner tonight. This will be followed by tours of campus and meetings with coaches and faculty on Saturday. The weekend concludes with the prospects attending the Gaiters’ basketball doubleheader against Concordia tomorrow night, where they will experience the outstanding fan support that makes Bishop's the envy of schools many times its size.

The Gaiters are currently in the midst of their winter on-field training sessions, with the 2010 training camp is set to open on August 14.
