Laura Keeler named QSSF Indoor Soccer All-Star

Complete list of award-winners

March 11, 2009

LENNOXVILLE – Laura Keeler (Jordan Bay, N.S.), of the Bishop's Gaiters has been named a Quebec University Indoor Soccer League Second Team All-Star. The league office in Montreal made the announcement today. Keeler is the first Gaiter to win an award in Indoor Soccer.

Keeler, a 5 foot 5 inch midfielder, started all seven regular-season games on the left wing in the indoor season, and has developed into a stalwart in the Gaiters' young midfield. The former Shelburne Rebel has impressed throughout the league's indoor season with her strength, agility and patience under pressure.

"She sees the field very well, and is extremely strong," said Gaiters' Head Coach Phil Ribaux. "I'm impressed with the way she has developed throughout the season. She has been outstanding defensively, and she has become one of our best players on offence."

The Gaiters will face the Laval Rouge et Or this Saturday in a QUISL quarter-final game. Kickoff at the Centre Multi-Sport Roland-Dussault in Sherbrooke is set for 6 p.m.
