LENNOXVILLE - The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to the Sherbrooke Vert & Or in Quebec University Soccer League action tonight at Coulter Field. The Vert & Or led 2-0 at halftime before pulling away in the second frame.

Sherbrooke's Josée Belanger opened the scoring in the 17th minute as she scored the first of her two goals. She also hit the net in the 53rd minute, with both goals coming off through balls from midfield. Claudia Gosselin, Marie-Michelle Bibeau and Ann-Marie Brochu also scored for the Vert & Or, who moved to 1-0-0 on the season.

The sole Bishop's goal-scorer was Laura Menard-Lee, who connected on a shot from 25 yards out in the 50th minute to close the gap to 2-1.

In goal, Becky Yates had her second straight strong performance, making 13 saves on 30 shots. For Sherbrooke, Marie-Michelle Coulombe made two saves on five total Bishop's shots.

The Gaiters fall to 0-2-0 on the season. They will visit the UQTR Patriotes (0-1-0) on Sunday afternoon in Trois-Rivières.
