Phil Ribaux named Gaiters' new Women's Soccer Head
Coach September 9, 2008 LENNOXVILLE – The Bishop’s
University Athletic Department has announced that Phil Ribaux has been
named the new Head Coach of the Bishop's Gaiters Women's Soccer team.
Ribaux replaces Darren Matthews, who stepped aside due to increasing
family and work commitments and is now the team's General Manager. Ribaux, 26, who was
entering his second season as an Assistant Coach with the team, is a
Physical Education instructor at Champlain College, and also serves as
the strength and conditioning coach for the Gaiters Men's Basketball
team. Ribaux played as a central

2002-04, and won a national championship with the Badgers in 2002. Prior
to playing at Brock, he captained the Champlain Cougars men's soccer
team to a bronze medal at the Quebec provincial AA championship in 2001,
their first playoff appearance in ten years and their only ever
appearance at the provincial championship. Ribaux, a native of
Lennoxville, has a degree in Physical Education from Brock and an
Education degree from Lakehead University. He is the son of former
Gaiters hockey player Gilles Ribaux '78, a defenceman on the 1975-76
squad. Ribaux lost his first game
as Head Coach on Sunday to the No. 6-ranked Montreal Carabins. The
Gaiters host Sherbrooke on Friday night at 7 p.m. at Coulter Field and
