ATHLETE OF THE WEEK:

This week’s Bishop's Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Melanie Ouellet-Godcharles from the Women's Basketball team.

Ouellet-Godcharles (Gatineau, Que.) was a bright spot in the Gaiters' 60-44 semifinal loss to the UQAM Citadins on Wednesday night. She was a presence at both ends of the floor. Offensively, she scored 11 points, on 4-for-9 shooting and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Defensively, she held Karine Boudrias, the league's second-leading scorer, to only three points, far off her regular-season average of 14.7

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Amanda Piribauer (Women's Basketball) - Grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds on Wednesday.
  • Robyn Wilson (Women's Basketball) - Went 4-for-8 from the field in scoring 9 points on Wednesday.

Gaiters crash out of QUBL playoffs with 60-44 loss to UQAM
Stats

WEDNESDAY: UQAM 60, GAITERS 44 - Box Score - Full release
The Bishop’s Gaiters' season came to a screeching halt tonight, as they were upset 60-44 by the UQAM Citadins in a Quebec University Basketball League women's semifinal. The Gaiters’ shooting proved to be their downfall, as they shot a paltry 28.1% (16-for-57) from the field, their lowest percentage in a CIS game this year.

The Gaiters were led by Amanda Piribauer, who grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds and scored 13 points – her sixth double-double of the year. Mélanie Ouellet-Godcharles was the only other Gaiter in double figures, as she scored 11 points, on 4-for-9 shooting.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters have ended their 2008-09 season.

WOMEN’S INDOOR SOCCER (0-6-1, 8th QUISL)
Gaiters forfeit final regular season game, playoff schedule set

Due to a lack of available players, the Gaiters were forced to forfeit their final indoor soccer match of the regular season. The game is recorded as a 3-0 win for UQAM. The loss leaves the Gaiters in eighth place in the QUISL, three points behind 1-5-1 UQTR.

UP NEXT: The #8-seeded Gaiters will have a week off. They return to action next week, when they will host the #1 Laval Rouge et Or in the QUISL quarter-finals. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 14.
