ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:

This week’s Bishop's Gaiters Athlete of the Week is Anna Bertrand from the Polar Bears women's hockey team.

Bertrand (Almonte, Ont.) scored a hat trick on Friday night as the Bears downed the Sherbrooke Junior A's. The fourth-year education student's three goals led the Polar Bears to the 8-2 victory.

HONOUR ROLL:

  • Stephanie Burnett (Women's Soccer) - Gaiters' player of the game on Friday night.
  • Maryse Richard (Women's Hockey) - Goaltender stopped five breakaways in Friday night's game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (13-11, 13-9 CIS, 10-6 QUBL - 2nd)
Gaiters off last week, "Drive for Five" begins Wednesday

Women's Basketball had a bye for the final week of the QUBL regular season. The Gaiters' Drive for Five beings tomorrow night, as the Gaiters host the third-seeded UQAM Citadins (19-8, 9-7 QUBL) in a semifinal game. Tipoff at the Mitchell Gym is set for 7 p.m.

#4 Concordia (8-19, 5-11 QUBL) will play #1 Laval (17-10, 11-5 QUBL) in the other league semifinal, also set for Wednesday. The QUBL Championship is set for Saturday, February 28, at the home of the highest-seeded finalist.

WOMEN’S INDOOR SOCCER (0-5-1, 8th QUISL)
Gaiters fall at home to McGill

The Gaiters dropped their final home game of the season, a 7-1 loss last Friday night against the McGill Martlets. Christina DiCaprio's hat trick led the Martlets, who held a 3-0 halftime lead, while a Magalie Kolker brace and singles from Kyrin Dhaliwal and Claire Hooper rounded out the McGill scoring. Stephanie Burnett scored the Gaiters' only goal in the 77th minute.

UP NEXT: The Gaiters close out the regular season in St-Eustache on Saturday afternoon, as they visit the UQAM Citadins (1-5-0). Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY (9-7-1)
Polar Bears head into break with victory over local squad

The Polar Bears played one game last week, an 8-2 defeat of the Sherbrooke Junior A team. Anna Bertrand's hat trick led the Polar Bears in a game that was closer than the score would indicate.
