Women's Basketball was swept last week by a pair of NCAA Division I teams, as they lost 75-44 to the UMass Minutewomen on Friday night, and 56-43 to the Bryant Bulldogs on Saturday.

FRIDAY: Bishop's 44 @ UMass 75

Mélanie Ouellet-Godcharles led the Gaiters with 12 points, as she went 3-of-10 from the field and made all four of her free throws. UP NEXT: The Gaiters open their QUBL season this weekend as they face the McGill Martlets in a home-and-home series. Bishop's will open conference play on Friday in Montreal, before returning on Saturday for the home opener. Both games are set for 6 p.m. starts.

MEN’S RUGBY (6-4-0 overall, 4-2-0 QURU, 2nd)
Gaiters shut out in QURU Championship

Men’s Rugby (6-4, 4-2 QURU) fell 21-0 to the McGill Redmen in the 2008 Quebec University Rugby Union championship on Saturday. A crowd of about 400, including approximately 100 vocal Gaiters supporters, braved the rain at Percival Molson Stadium to watch the Redmen (7-2-1 overall, 5-1 QURU) take their third straight provincial rugby crown.

“Everybody left it on the field today”, said Gaiters Head Coach Bill Robson. “We were a completely different team from the start of the year to the end, and this was the toughest game McGill had all year.” Robson cited the work of Gaiters’ veteran No. 8 Sean McLelland in the scrums, noting that he played his “best game ever for us.” (More...)

The Gaiters finish the year with an overall record of 6-4 (4-2 QURU).
