GAITERS FOOTBALL PREPARES TO HOST 65 STUDENT-ATHLETES

February 13, 2009

LENNOXVILLE - Bishop's Gaiters head football coach Leroy Blugh is pleased to announce that the Gaiters will welcome approximately 65 student-athletes from Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes to Lennoxville today for the ninth annual Purple and Silver weekend.

The Purple and Silver weekend allows the Gaiters’ top recruiting prospects a tremendous opportunity to live the “Bishop’s Experience.” The prospects will attend the Purple and Silver Dinner tonight, followed by tours of campus and meetings with coaches with faculty on Saturday. The weekend concludes with the prospects attending the Gaiters’ basketball doubleheader against Concordia, where they will experience the outstanding fan support that continues to make Bishop’s famous.

The weekend is intended to give invitees a sense of what awaits them at Bishop's should they choose to play for the Gaiters this fall.

Meanwhile, the current Gaiters took the field this week for the first of ten on-field winter practices. The sessions at the Centre Multi-Sport Roland-Dussault in Fleurimont will continue on Monday and Wednesday afternoons until March 18, save for a break for Reading Week (March 2-6).
