LENNOXVILLE: Fourth-year running back Jamall Lee scored the Bishop’s Gaiters only touchdown as they defeated the No. 8-ranked Sherbrooke Vert & Or 15-10 before 4,123 fans at Coulter Field. The Gaiters led 12-1 at halftime, but Sherbrooke closed to within two points in the fourth quarter. Sherbrooke had the ball on the Gaiters’ 10-yard-line with under a minute to go, but the Gaiters’ defence held, clinching the victory.

Lee scored on a one-yard plunge midway through the second quarter, capping a nine-play, 105-yard scoring drive. Lee finished the day with 176 yards on 26 carries. He now has 3,818 career rushing yards, putting him into eighth place on the CIS all-time rushing list.

The Vert & Or staged a comeback in the fourth quarter, capped by Joseph Mroué’s 30-yard touchdown run at 7:28 The touchdown brought the Vert & Or to within two at 12-10, but they were unable to tie the game on the two-point convert attempt.

After Josh Maveety’s second field goal of the day put the Gaiters up 15-10 with 2:27 remaining, the Vert & Or mounted their final drive. Sherbrooke put together a 12-play, 57-yard drive, advancing to the Gaiters’ 10-yard-line, but a pair of holding penalties pushed the Vert & Or back, and Jean-Philippe Shoiry’s third-down pass to Alex Beaudoin fell short, sealing the Gaiters’ win.
