JAMALL LEE NAMED QUFL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

(Version française ci-dessous)

September 22, 2008

LENNOXVILLE Jamall Lee (Port Coquitlam, B.C./Terry Fox S.S.) of the Bishop's Gaiters has been named the QUFL Offensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league office today. This is Lee's first win of the season, and the fourth in the past two seasons.

Lee, a six-foot-one, 225-pound running back, led the Bishop’s Gaiters to a 45-21 win over the McGill Redmen. The fourth-year Sociology major ran 35 times for 391 yards, both QUFL records, in the Gaiters' win. Lee's performance was the second-highest in CIS history, only four yards shy of the CIS record set by Chris Lewis (Calgary). Lee also set a QUFL record for single-game all-purpose yards with 405.

On Friday, Lee became the QUFL's all-time leading rusher, passing Sherbrooke's Joseph Mroué, and now has a total of 3,642 yards, good for 11th spot on the all-time CIS list.

Lee now leads the CIS with an average of 182.7 rushing yards per game, and is second in the nation with seven touchdowns.

After Friday's 45-21 win over the Redmen, Bishop's (1-2) will now host the Sherbrooke Vert & Or in this week's Homecoming game. Kickoff at Coulter Field in Lennoxville is set for 3:30 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RDS.
