ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:

This week’s Pilsen
Pub Athletes of the Week are Amanda Piribauer (Kingston, Ont.) of the
Women's Basketball team, and Junior Nicolas (Montreal, Que.) of the Men's Basketball team.
Piribauer led the Gaiters to
a weekend sweep, scoring 17 points in Friday's win over UQAM, and 16
points in Saturday's win at home to McGill. On Friday, she led all
scorers as she went 8-of-10 from the field, while also grabbing a
team-high seven rebounds and picking up two blocks. The 6'4" centre put
the game away with six unanswered points early in the third quarter. On
Saturday, she again led all scorers with 16 points, grabbed another
seven rebounds and made a season-high four blocks as the Gaiters edged
McGill 52-47. Piribauer's 26 blocks (2 per game) are second in Canada,
behind only Leanne Evans of UBC (2.7/game).
Nicolas
led the Gaiters with 34 points over two games this weekend. On Friday
night at UQAM, he scored 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including going
4-for-5 from the three-point line as the Gaiters fell 83-75 to the
Citadins. He also added a season-high seven assists in the losing cause.
On Saturday, Nicolas scored a team-high 18 points as the Gaiters fell by
eight to McGill. He went 7-for-9 from the free throw line, and 5-for-9
from the field while adding another four assists. Nicolas averages 16.8
points per league game, good for fourth place in the QUBL and his 4.8
rebounds per league game leads the Gaiters.
HONOUR ROLL:

Robyn Wilson - F - Women's Basketball (3rd year, Vancouver, B.C.) -
Recorded first double-double of the season with 10 points (including
six down the stretch) and 11 rebounds on Saturday night.

Hermon Tesfaghebriel
- F - Men's Basketball (3rd year, Coquitlam, B.C.) - Shared team
lead with 16 points on Friday at UQAM

Kevin Selman - F - Men's Basketball (1st year, Pierrefonds, Que.) -
Hit double figures twice last weekend, with 12 points on Friday and
10 points on Saturday.

Melanie Ouellet-Godcharles - G - Women's Basketball (2nd year,
Gatineau, Que.) - Scored ten points and added three assists in
Friday's win at UQAM.
- Chelsea-Lyn Aboud -
GK - Women's Indoor Soccer (4th year, Oakville, Ont.) - Made 17
saves on Sunday afternoon.
- Linda Guerrera -
MF - Women's Indoor Soccer (1st year, Montreal, Que.) - Scored
in the 90th minute of Sunday's game vs. Laval.

Gaiters drop pair on
weekend
Team Statistics
Men’s
Basketball lost both games this week, a 83-75 loss at UQAM on Friday,
and a 78-70 defeat at home to McGill on Saturday.
SATURDAY:
McGill 78 @ Bishop's 70

McGill
guard Sean Anthony scored 18 of his game-high 26 points in the first
quarter as the Redmen defeated the Bishop’s Gaiters 78-70 on Saturday
evening. With Anthony leading the way, the Redmen jumped out to an early lead against
the Gaiters and then withstood a Bishop’s rally in the fourth quarter to
hand the Gaiters their 11th straight loss.

FRIDAY:
Bishop's 75 @ UQAM 83

A 27-point third quarter allowed the UQAM Citadins
to score a come-from-behind win over the
Gaiters. The Gaiters led 47-41 at the half,
but were outscored 27-12 in the third and were unable to come
all the way back. Junior Nicolas and Hermon Tesfagehbriel
led Bishop's with 16 points each. Kevin Selman hit double figures for the second game in a row,
with 12 points and a game-high 7 boards.

UP NEXT: The
Gaiters' final home game of the season is this Friday against UQAM (10-10,
6-10, 5-7). On Saturday the Gaiters hit the road to face Laval (18-11,
17-8, 11-2). Both games are set to start at 8 p.m.

Women run winning
streak to three
Team Statistics
Women’s Basketball
clinched a playoff spot by winning both their games last weekend: 57-42
at UQAM and 52-47 at home to McGill.
SATURDAY:
McGill 47 @ Bishop's 52

Amanda Piribauer scored 16 points, grabbed
seven rebounds and blocked four shots to lead the Women’s Basketball to
a 52-47 win over the visiting Martlets.
The Gaiters
held McGill to only
28.1%
shooting and forced 27 McGill turnovers. Robyn Wilson earned her first
double-double of the year, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Bishop's 57 @ UQAM 42

Amanda Piribauer's 17 points led
the Gaiters to a 57-42 win at UQAM. Piribauer went 8-from-10 from the field, also
grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and made two blocks. She put the game
away early in the second half as she scored six straight points. Katy Germain and Melanie Ouellet-Godcharles also hit double figures for the
Gaiters with 10 points each, while Marie-Ève Lemoine led
all players with five assists.

host UQAM (14-9, 14-9, 8-4) in their final regular season home game on
Friday, and visit Laval (17-5, 17-5, 11-2 ) on Saturday. Both games tip
off at 6 p.m.

Gaiters fall to undefeated Laval

Indoor
Soccer's season continued on Sunday with a 9-1 loss to the Laval Rouge
et Or at the Centre Multi-sport Roland-Dussault in
Sherbrooke.
The Rouge et Or went on
top with two first-half goals and stretched the margin to 4-0 with two
goals in two minutes (58', 60'). A solid, hard-working performance by
the Gaiters was spoiled by a torrid eight-minute stretch late in the
game that saw Laval hit the net four times.
The Purple and White did
pull one goal back late, as Linda Guerrera, the Gaiters' player of the
game, scored in the 90th minute. Goalkeeper Chelsea-Lyn Aboud made 16
saves for Bishop's.
UP NEXT: The Gaiters hit the road as they
will take on the UQAM Citadins (1-3-0) on Saturday in St-Eustache.
Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.

Polar Bears fall to
Sherbies
The
Bishop’s Polar Bears dropped a 5-4 decision to the Sherbrooke Sherbies
on Friday night. Chloe Duncan, Emilee Walker, Jen Prokosh and Anna
Bertrand found the net for the Bears, while Maryse Richard took the loss
in goal, despite a solid performance.
UP NEXT: The Polar Bears'
annual alumni game is this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the W. B. Scott Arena.
