ATHLETES OF THE WEEK:
This week’s Pilsen
Pub Athletes of the Week are Courtney Cook (Maple Ridge, B.C.) of the
Women's Basketball team and and Doug McCooeye (Pointe-Claire, Que.) of the Men's
Basketball team.
Cook led the Gaiters with a season-high 17
points and six rebounds in
Friday's
loss to the Concordia Stingers. She went 6-14 from the field and
-4-4 from the line in 25 minutes. She
grabbed a total of six rebounds, including a team-high five off the
defensive glass in Friday's game.
McCooeye led the Gaiters with 17 points and seven rebounds on Friday
against Concordia. He went 6-for-12 from the field, including 2-for-5
from the three-point line in 35 minutes on Friday night. He also added
seven rebounds, as the Gaiters outrebounded Concordia 41-36.
HONOUR ROLL:

Junior Nicolas - F - Men's Basketball (3rd year,
Montréal, Que.) - Scored 11 points and had eight rebounds on Friday
vs. Concordia

Women's Basketball (1st year, Val d'Or, Que.) - Scored 11 points and
had a game-high five assists on Friday vs. Concordia

Laura Ménard-Lee -
MF - Women's Indoor Soccer (2nd year, Châteauguay, Que.) - Recorded
first career point with an assist on Sunday at Sherbrooke.

Chelsea-Lyn Aboud -
GK - Women's Indoor Soccer (4th year, Oakville, Ont.) - Made several
saves and was named Player of the Game on Sunday.

Bishop’s Gaiters men’s basketball team suffered
their sixth straight QUBL loss on Friday evening, falling 77-64 to the 8th-ranked
Concordia Stingers.
Forward Doug McCooeye (Pointe-Claire, Que.) led Bishop’s with 17 points
and seven rebounds while Junior Nicolas (Montreal, Que.) netted 11
points and guard Tim McAleenan (Sussex, N.B.) finished with 10.

Gaiters’ next action is this Wednesday, as visit the McGill Redmen
(12-13, 11-11, 5-6) and on Saturday when they host the Laval Rouge et Or

Second year guard Krystle Douglas scored 24 points and forward Kristin
Portwine scored eight points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the visiting
Concordia Stingers knocked off the Bishop’s Gaiters 70-64 on Friday
evening.
Forward Courtney Cook (Maple Ridge, B.C.) led the Gaiters with 17 points
and six rebounds while guard Jesse Roy (Val d’Or, Que.) chipped in with
11 points, five assists and five rebounds.

WOMEN’S INDOOR SOCCER

Gaiters fall to local rivals
Indoor
Soccer's season continued on Sunday with a 6-1 loss to the Sherbrooke
Vert et Or at the Centre Multi-sport Roland-Dussault in
Sherbrooke.
The Vert et Or took an
early lead on Andréanne Gagné's 2nd-minute goal, but the Gaiters
equalized nine minutes later as Emily St-Cyr (Richmond, Que.) found the
net.
Sherbrooke immediately
responded, with Josée Bélanger's 12th-minute goal proving to be the
winner. Bélanger and Gagné finished with two goals each.
Gaiters' goalkeeper Chelsea-Lyn Aboud (Oakville, Ont.) was named the
player of the game, for her stalwart performance in the Bishop's net.
UP NEXT: The Gaiters return to the Centre
Multisport on Sunday to face the Montreal Carabins (1-0-1).
Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

Polar Bears fall to
Ayer's Cliff
The
Bishop’s Polar Bears suffered a loss in their only game last week, a 2-1
defeat to the Ayer's Cliff All-Stars. Anna Bertrand (Almonte, Ont.) had
the only goal for the Bears as they fell to the All-Stars for the second
time this year. In goal, Laura Ménard-Lee (Châteauguay, Que.) made her
debut, conceding two goals.
