LENNOXVILLE - Bishop’s running back Jamall Lee (Port Coquitlam, BC) c
ontinued his assault on the record books Saturday, rushing for 250 yards and two touchdowns as the Gaiters earned their third straight win with a 44-12 victory over visiting Mount Allison. Playing in front of an enthusiastic homecoming crowd of 3400 fans, Lee broke off touchdown runs of 100 and 75 yards as the Gaiters earned their first homecoming win since defeating Mount Allison 25-13 in 2004.

Lee’s 250 yard effort marked the second time that the third year back has reached the 250 yard mark this season and was the fourth 200 yard rushing game of his career. The All-Canadian candidate also moved into 6th place on the QUFL all-time rushing list and is only two touchdowns short of tying the Bishop’s career record for rushing touchdowns. After four games Lee leads the Quebec conference in rushing with 753 yards and is on pace to break the QUFL single-season rushing record of 1050 yards, which is held by former Gaiters running back Larry Smith.

Although Lee clearly stood out against the Mounties, the Gaiters' convincing win was far from a one-man show. Quarterback Jesse Andrews (Pickering, Ont.) passed for 112 yards and two touchdowns while backup quarterback Jeff Hildreth (Hamilton, Ont.) threw an 86 yard touchdown pass to receiver Yunell Clayton (Brampton, Ont.). On defence, linebacker Dusty Burke (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) had 8.5 tackles and 1.5 sacks, linebacker Kyle Jones (Mississauga, Ont.) finished with 6 tackles and 1 sack and defensive back Nick Poloniato (Hamilton, Ont.) had two interceptions, one of which was returned 40 yards for a touchdown.

Mounties quarterback Kelly Hughes completed 17 of 38 passes for 192 yards with three interceptions while backup Byron Stearns threw for 62 yards and a score. Receiver Gary Ross had four catches for 81 yards and a touchdown. Linebacker Ben Halpern led the Mounties defence with 7 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

The 9th ranked Gaiters' (3-1) next game is Saturday, October 6th against McGill (0-3). Mount Allison’s (1-3) hosts Acadia (2-2) next week.
