Polar Bears win tournament
Jennifer Prokosh leads Bishop's with nine goals in four games

Dec. 4, 2006 – The Bishop's University Polar Bears women's hockey team captured a tournament hosted by themselves this weekend, defeating the Sherbrooke Sonic 4-3 on Saturday afternoon to finish the tournament with an undefeated 3-0-1 record.

Sarah Bennett had two goals in the Polar Bears win, while Michelle McKay and Anna Bertrand added a goal apiece. Goaltender Paige Marlow earned the win.

In round robin play, coach Karl Hunting's team went undefeated, registering a record of two wins and one tie.

Against the Alexander Galt Pipers on Friday evening, the Polar Bears fought to a 2-2 tie, with Michelle McKay and Jessica Frappied scoring for Bishop's and Paige Marlow starting in nets.

Bishop's wrapped up Friday evening with a convincing 11-1 win over the Sherbrooke-based CGHT team. Forward Jennifer Prokosh was simply remarkable for the Polar Bears, scoring six goals. The other Bishop's goals came courtesy of Sarah Bennett (2 goals), Emily Dick, Anna Bertrand and Kayla Dawson. Maryse Richard got the win as goaltender.

On Saturday afternoon, Bishop's guaranteed themselves a spot in the tournament final by defeating the Motley Crew of Stowe, Vermont 12-1.

Once again, the line of Jennifer Prokosh, Sarah Bennett and Anna Bertrand was brilliant, with Prokosh and Bennett scoring a hat-trick each and Bertrand scoring one goal. Michelle McKay also continued to play well, recording a hat-trick. The other Polar Bear goals came courtesy of Jessica Frappied and Chantal Richard. Paige Marlow was the Polar Bears goaltender.

Alexander Galt finished the tournament in third place after defeating the Motley Crew 4-0 in the consolation finals.

The Polar Bears will return to action after the Christmas break when they travel to Stowe, Vermont on January 12th for a tournament there.

Les Polar Bears remportent les honneurs de leur tournoi
Jennifer Prokosh mène l’attaque de Bishop’s avec neuf buts en quatre matchs

4 décembre 2006 – Les Polar Bears de l’Université Bishop’s ont remporté la grande finale de leur tournoi face au Sonic de Sherbrooke samedi par la marque de 4 à 3, demeurant ainsi invaincus en quatre matchs lors du week-end.

Sarah Bennett a inscrit deux buts tandis dans la victoire des Polar Bears, les deux autres étant l’œuvre de Michelle McKay et d’Anna Bertrand. La gardienne Paige Marlow a été créditée du gain.

En ronde préliminaire, la troupe de l’entraîneur Karl Hunting est demeurée invaincue en récoltant deux gains et un match nul.

Vendredi, face aux représentantes de l’école secondaire Alexander Galt, les Polar Bears ont fait match nul 2 à 2. Michelle McKay et Jessica Frappied ont compté les deux buts de Bishop’s alors que Paige Marlow était devant le filet.

En fin de soirée, les Polar Bears ont facilement vaincu CGHT, une formation de Sherbrooke, au compte de 11 à 1. La joueuse de centre Jennifer Prokosh a été tout simplement dominante y allant d’une performance de six buts. Les autres buteuses de Bishop’s ont été Sarah Bennett, avec deux filets, Emily Dick, Anna Bertrand et Kayla Dawson. La gardienne Maryse Richard a récolté la victoire.

Samedi midi, les Polar Bears se sont assurées du deuxième rang et d’un match pour la grande finale défaisant le Motley Crew de Stowe au Vermont par la marque de 12 à 1.

Une fois de plus, la ligne à l’attaque composée de Jennifer Prokosh, Sarah Bennett et Anna Bertrand a été des plus brillantes alors que Prokosh et Bennett y ont été d’un tour du chapeau tandis que Bertrand marquait un but. Michelle McKay a poursuivi son bon travail réalisant elle aussi un triplé. Les autres buts de Bishop’s sont venus de Jessica Frappied et Chantal Richard. Paige Marlow a obtenu la victoire devant le filet de Bishop’s.

L’équipe d’Alexander Galt a pris le troisième rang du tournoi en défaisant le Motley Crew de Stowe 4 à 0.

Les Polar Bears seront en congé jusqu’au 12 janvier alors qu’elles participeront au tournoi annuel de Stowe au Vermont.
