Alpine skiing: Bishop’s in fourth place after one weekend

Jan. 23, 2007 – The Bishop’s University ski team currently occupies fourth place in the the Quebec University Alpine Ski Circuit following the first two races of the season which were held this past weekend at the Massif du Sud ski resort in Chaudière-Appalaches.

Jennifer Post was the fastest skier for Bishop’s at Satuday’s giant slalom with a time of 2:24.27 which was good for 11th place. Emilie Cousineau from Universite de Montreal won the gold medal with a time of 2:16.65.

On the men’s side, Graham Carr finished 11th (2:16.68) while teammate Ian Snowsell (2:20.54) took 17th place. Jeff Strevens (2:22.83) and Craig Mottershead (2:23.18) also had strong outings, finishing in 20th and 21st places respectively. Jocelyn Boily from Universite de Montreal finished in first-place with a time of 2:10.61.

On Sunday, Jennifer Post and Jennifer Bertram were once again the top finishers for the Gaiters, finishing in 11th and 12th place respectively, with times of 2:07.65 and 2:08.24. Sara Maude Boucher Parr of the Universite de Sherbrooke finished in first-place with a time of 2:02.79

For the men, Graham Carr was once again the Gaiters top performer, finishing his two runs in 15th place with a time of 2:02.43. McGill’s Christian Vining finished in first-place with a time of 1:55.11.

On the individual standings, Jennifer Post and Jennifer Bertram are currently in 11th and 13th plac respectively, with a total of 140 and 125 points. Emilie Cousineau and Megan Kidston from McGill are tied at the top of the standings with 350 points each. 
On the men's side, Graham Carr is currently in 13th place while Ian Snowsell finds himself in 17th. Christian Vining leads all skiers with a total of 375 points. 

In total points (men's and women's combined), Bishop's finished the weekend in fourth place with 1095 points. Montreal is currently in first-place with 2299 points. Bishop's is in fifth place in the women's standings with 526 points, while McGill is currently in 1st place with a total of 1114 points. Bishop's is also ranked fifth in the men's division with 569 points while Montreal occupies first place with a total of 1265 points. 

The University Alpine Ski Circuit won’t be in action until February 10th and 11th when it stops at Le Massif de la Petite-Rivière-Saint-François in Charlevoix, when two slalom competitions will take place.

Premier week-end de ski universitaire : Bishop’s prend le quatrième rang après deux courses

23 janvier 2007 – Les skieurs de l’Université Bishop’s ont débuté leur saison de compétitions en prenant le quatrième rang du classement combiné ce week-end au Massif du Sud situé dans la région Chaudière-Appalaches.

Lors du slalom géant présenté samedi, Jennifer Post a été la plus rapide chez les skieuses de Bishop’s avec un chrono combiné de 2:24.27 la plaçant au 11e rang. Émilie Cousineau de l’Université de Montréal a remporté l’or avec un temps de 2:16.65.

La porte-couleur des Gaiters Jennifer Bertram a pour sa part pris la 17e position (2:26.40).

Chez les hommes, Graham Carr a pris le 11e rang (2:16.68) tandis que son coéquipier avec Bishop’s Ian Snowsell (2:20.54) a fini 17e. Jeff Strevens (2:22.83) et Craig Mottershead (2:23.18) ont aussi bien fait avec des 20e et 21e places. Jocelyn Boily de l’Université de Montréal a remporté l’épreuve avec un temps de 2:10.61.

Dimanche, Jennifer Post et Jennifer Bertram ont à nouveau été les meilleures pour Bishop’s en terminant 11e et 12e avec des chronos respectifs de 2:07.65 et de 2:08.24. Sara-Maude Boucher-Parr de l’Université de Sherbrooke a terminé bonne première avec un temps de 2:02.79.

Du côté masculin, Graham Carr a une fois de plus été fiable sur ses planches en récoltant une 15e place avec un temps de 2:02.43. Christian Vining de McGill a remporté l’épreuve avec un chrono de 1:55.11.

Au classement individuel, Jennifer Post et Jennifer Bertram occupent les 11e et 13e place avec respectivement 140 et 125 points. Émilie Cousineau et Megan Kidston de McGill sont à égalité en tête avec 350 points.

Chez les hommes, Graham Carr est classé 13e tandis que Ian Snowsell se retrouve en 17e place. Vainqueur de la course de dimanche, Christian Vining domine le classement chez les hommes avec 375 points.

Au classement par équipe, l’Université de Montréal domine le combiné avec 2299 points alors que Bishop’s est en quatrième place avec 1095 points. Au classement féminin, McGill est premier avec 1114 points tandis que Bishop’s se retrouve cinquième avec 526 points. Même chose du côté masculin alors que les skieurs de Bishop’s sont cinquièmes avec 569 points contre 1265 pour l’Université de Montréal.

Le Circuit universitaire de ski alpin reprendra ses activités les 10 et 11 février prochain au Massif de la Petite-Rivière-Saint-François alors que deux slaloms spéciaux seront présentés.
