Feb. 6, 2006 – The Bishop's Polar Bears women's hockey team hosted the Sherbrooke Neider hockey team in a fast-paced game on Saturday evening. After jumping out to an early 2-0 lead, Sherbrooke came back to tie the game at three apiece after the first period. Sherbrooke scored the lone goal in the second period and were up 4-3 following the first forty minutes of play. Polar Bear veteran Kim Purcell scored her second goal of the game in the third to tie the game at four apiece.The game was decided with less than two minutes to play when rookie Chantal Richard scored the winning goal. Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Gaiters were Kaila Ezard and Kayls Dawson while Maryse Richard and Paige Marlow split the goaltending duties. The Polar Bears will be in action again February 17th and 18th when they travel to Lewiston, Maine to play Bates College. |
