March 15, 2006 – The fifth and final event on the Quebec university ski circuit will take place this weekend at Mount Garceau in St. Donat in the Quebec City region. Over 120 skiers are expected to attend the two slalom competitions being held this weekend. Currently ranked fourth on the circuit, Bishop's enters the final weekend of the season trailing third-place Laval by only a few points. Bishop's has not finished higher than fourth on the circuit since 2001. Bishop's is curently ranked third on the women's side and boasts a young but talented squad that has given the top two teams on the circuit, McGill and Montreal, plenty of competition. Lauren Bobby of Timmins, Ontario and Jennifer Bertram of Vancouver, B.C. have helped lead the way for the Lady Gaiters this season and are currently ranked in 4th and 7th place, respectively. On the men's side, the Gaiters currently occupy fourth place, behind Montreal, McGill and Laval although a strong showing this weekend could allow them to pass Laval and finish the season in third place. The men's team is led by rookie Graham Carr of Calgary. Carr is currently the 8th ranked male on the university circuit and has been a constant threat to reach the podium in each race this season.
