Gaiter Weekend Preview
Men’s Basketball Team
to participate in biggest CIS pre-season tournament

Oct. 14, 2005 – Fresh off an 82-70 victory over NCAA Division II St. Michael's College last Friday, the Gaiters pre-season schedule continues this weekend as they travel west to our nation's capital to take part in the prestigious House- Laughton Tournament, which is hosted by the defending national champion Carleton Ravens. Bishop's is the only Quebec conference team in the four team field, which also includes Western, Alberta and the host team, Carleton.

Bishop's first game will be Friday night at 8 p.m. when they take on Carleton, who last year finished with a perfect 22-0 record in conference play. The Gaiters will be in action again the following night when they play Alberta (12-8 in 2004-2005) at 6 p.m. Saturday evening. The final game of the tournament for the Gaiters will be Sunday at noon when Head Coach Eddie Pomykala's team will take on Western (5-17 in '04-'05.)

MEN'S RUGBY

The Gaiters (4-2) are guaranteed to host at least a conference semi-final game once postseason play begins on October, 30th. This weekend the Gaiters will host ETS on Sunday, October 16t at 1 p.m.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
Lady Gaiters travel to Montreal for a pair of road games

The Lady Gaiters will be in action again this weekend when they play a pair of road games against UQAM (1-7) and Montreal (6-0-2). The Bishop's-UQAM game is set for Friday night at 7 p.m., while the game against Montreal is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.

LACROSSE
Gaiters continue drive to the playoffs

The Bishop's Gaiters lacrosse team, who have won their past three conference games to improve their conference record to 4-2, will play a pair of games this weekend as they continue their final push towards the post-season.

The Gaiters week-end will begin with a trip south of the border to take on the University of Vermont in a non-conference match-up. The Gaiters will then return home where they are set to host the University of Toronto (2-2) at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

With three games to go in conference play, the Gaiters currently occupy 2nd place, trailing only defending Baggattaway Cup champions Brock, who the Gaiters defeated 12-11 in overtime on October 1st. If Bishop's maintains its hold on one of the top two spots they will earn a first round bye in the conference playoffs and an automatic berth in the conference semi-finals which are
scheduled for November 12th in London, Ontario.
