2005 Season Recap Oct. 31, 2005
Gaiters finish season 6-2 but fall to Concordia in the playoffs
Having been defeated by McGill in last year’s conference finals, the Bishop’s Gaiters men’s rugby entered the 2005 season with every intention of returning to (and winning) the title game. A 6-2 record in the regular season and a 2nd place finish seemed to suggest that this was a distinct possibility, yet the Gaiters were upset by Concordia 20-7 in the conference semi-finals and with the defeat saw their hopes of a title-game rematch with McGill come to an end.

Despite their play-off struggles, however, 2005 was a highly successful season for the men’s rugby team, both on a team level and for individual players on the Gaiters roster. Most notably, four Bishop’s players were selected to the Conference All-Star team: Matt Gagnon (Ottawa, On), Eric Howey (Hamilton, On), Adam Barrette (Ottawa, On) and Rob Scuton (Mississauga, On).

Gaiters end season on winning note, prepare for Stingers Oct. 25, 2005
After dominating ETS 57-0 a week ago, the Bishop’s Gaiters continued their winning ways this weekend, closing out their regular season by defeating ETS yet again, this time by a score of 23-12. The win improved Bishop’s record to 6-2, which places them in second place in the conference.

The Gaiters will be in action yet again this weekend when they host Concordia (3-4-1) in the conference semi-finals. Bishop’s went 2-0 against the Stingers this season and a win on Sunday would place them in the conference finals for the second consecutive year.

Bishop's dominant against ETS Oct. 20, 2005
In their second to last regular season game before the post-season begins, the Bishop Gaiters dominated ETS this past Sunday, winning 57-0 to improve their record to 5-2. Ben Williams scored two tries to lead the offensive explosion for the Gaiters, who set a season high for points scored while at the same time posting their first shut-out of the season.

The Gaiters regular season will come to a close this Sunday when they travel to Montreal to take on ETS (2-7) for the second week in a row.
