Two Quarterbacks commit to Bishop's

March 9, 2006 – The Bishop's Gaiters football program is pleased to announce that two prominent high school quarterbacks, Jeff Hildreth and Ryan Hardy, have committed to play for the Gaiters begining in the fall of 2006.

‘’We are quite pleased with our additions to our Gaiter family. Both of these young men possess the skills to excell at this level. They are a great addition to our school and football program,’’ said head coach Leroy Blugh.

Hildreth, who will turn 19 before the season begins, has already drawn positive reviews from Gaiters offensive coordinator Tony Addona.

‘’Jeff has very good decision making abilities, a strong arm and good mobility. He's a good candidate to replace (Kyle) Williams at quarterback and I expect him to compete immediately.’’

Like Williams, the 2004 CIS Rookie of the Year who was forced to retire due to repeated concussions, Hildreth hails from the Hamilton area. He was also among the 112 players invited to the Team Canada Junior Team training camp last December.

"I'm confident that I can help this program continue to improve," said the 6’2’’, 205 lbs quarterback. "I'm very excited to be joining the Gaiters and I can't wait to step in and compete."

Joining Hildreth at the quarterback position this fall will be 19 year old Ryan Hardy from Mississauga, Ontario. The 6’7’’, 212 lbs Business major attended the Gaiters annual Purple and Silver dinner this past February.

‘’I did not see much of Ryan but what I saw of him, I thought he had good mechanics and a strong arm,’’ said Addona.
