Ottawa Renegades re-sign Bishop’s Gaiters lineman J-F. Roy
After five-year career, Quebec City native gets second crack with pro club

Ottawa, Jan. 27, 2005 – The Ottawa Renegades football club signed offensive lineman Jean-François Roy to a one-year deal (plus an option) Thursday.

Roy, a product of the proud Bishop’s University Gaiters program, will enter his second training camp with the Renegades after having an impressive debut last summer.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pound native of Quebec City went back to school in 2004 and finished his eligibility as a tackle with the Gaiters.

Roy, 27, was named the team’s lineman of the year in 2001, 2003 and 2004. He appeared in both Renegades pre-season games last summer against the Montreal Alouettes.

“We’re excited to get J-F back. He showed himself well at training camp last year,” said Renegades Head Coach and General Manager Joe Paopao. “J-F had a solid career at Bishop’s and we hope he continues it here in Ottawa.”
