Women's soccer drops to 0-4
Team vows to rebound with crucial games this weekend
September 23, 2003   Bishop's Sports Information

It was a disappointing weekend for the Bishop’s Gaiters women’s soccer team as they dropped both of their games this past weekend, with a 2-1 loss Friday night against the top ten ranked McGill Martlets and a close 3-2 loss to UQTR.
“McGill is one of the best teams in the country,” said Gaiters head coach Michael Richardson. “So our girls played a really good game against them, played them tight for most of the night, but unfortunately we couldn’t pull it out.”
Sunday afternoon it was an all together to familiar story as the Gaiters had a number of opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net but were simply unable to capitalize on their chances and lost to UQTR 3-2. Led by Marieve Bellerose, the team played hard in the waning minutes of the second half, hitting a number of posts, but the equalizer could never materialize.
“This is a disappointing result,” said Richardson. “We have our work cut out for ourselves next weekend. Our season is on the line, we need to be able to play a full 90 minutes of quality soccer, not just one half.”
The Gaiters will host UQAM this Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. and then will travel to Concordia to face the Stingers Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
