Clutch performance It was a hard fought match to say the least Sunday afternoon as the Lady Gaiters rugby team came away with a close 5-3 victory against the Ottawa Gee Gee’s. Becca King scored the lone try for the Gaiters as the team pulled out the victory in the dying seconds. “In my two years as a coach with this team,” said head coach Jim Scheib after the affair. “This is the best effort I have seen them put forward. We played extremely hard for both halves and I think this win is a testament to this team. Ottawa was third heading into this game, and I think our girls stepped up big time today.” With the victory the team improved to 2-2 on the season and moved ahead of Ottawa to take third place in the Quebec conference. The team plays Sherbrooke at home on Wednesday, October 8 at 5:00 p.m. at Optimist field.
