Women's Rugby improves over last season
54-0 victory = more points than Gaiters scored in 2002 season
September 16, 2003   Bishop's Sports Information

Twenty-one B.U. Lady Gaiters travelled five hours by bus to get to South Hadley, Massachusetts to play the woman's-only private college Mount Holyoke on Saturday. They came away victorious 54-0.
Mary-Jane Court opened the scoring 40 seconds into the match after going on a long run off loose play, committing her tackler and then providing support which was rewarded by a return pass and a twenty metre jaunt into the endzone for her first ever try. Jenna Logan also scored her first ever try.
First year Nova Scotia native Larissa Gibson scored three tries from the outside center position primarily through her speed. Other Lady Gaiter rookie scorers included the duo from Colonel By High School in Ottawa; Tanya Black who managed to stretch the ball over the line after being tackled; and Marnie Hurst who found a gap and scored under the posts.
Veteran players scoring included Shanyn Moore whose support of the ball carrier resulted in her scoring on a 15 meter run and Woman of the Match Valerie Dessaulles who also converted two tries in between long runs and solid support in rucks and loose play.
The Lady Gaiters have now scored more points this season than they did all of last year. Their overall record stands at 1-3-1. They play next at the University of Sherbrooke on Wednesday at 4:30PM
