We are the champions It was a game that some believed impossible to win, against an undefeated juggernaught that was the McGill Redmen men’s rugby team. Twice this season had the Redmen defeated the Gaiters on the strength of their speedy backs, but in the biggest game of the season the Gaiters responded, taking home the QSSF Men’s Championship Game 16-11 on the strength of Andy Wanka’s 11 point performance. Wanka, who serves as a team captain for the Gaiters, was on fire for most of the afternoon as the scrum half kicked one convert and three place kicks for his 11 points. The Gaiters benefited from a sloppy field that slowed McGill’s level of play. Brogan Taylor scored the Gaiters lone try in his first season with the club.
