Roy a Renegade
J.F. Roy signs
pro contract with Ottawa
April 18,
2004 Bishop's Sports Information
J.F. Roy has been known around the
Quebec conference as a bookend tackle and outstanding leader, even playing
both ways when called upon. That heart and desire was rewarded this past
month, with Roy signing his first professional contract, a two year deal
with the CFL’s Ottawa Renegades. Roy credits new Bishop’s assistant coach
Leroy Blugh with giving him the opportunity to join a CFL team.
“Leroy contacted some of the teams in
the CFL, sent them film, and Ottawa liked what they saw on tape," Roy
said. "Leroy certainly helped me a lot.”
Roy, lineman of the year for the
second year in a row at Bishop’s University, will report to camp in May
with the hopes of futhering his professional dream.
"This has been a goal of mine since my
CEGEP, and certainly I tried to achieve during my time at Bishop's," said
Roy. |
