Gaiters roll to 62-0 win over Vert
& Or While the Vert & Or demonstrated a new trick early in the contest, recovering the opening onside kick, the game quickly became a doppelganger of the one played week two with the Bishop’s Gaiters easily handing Sherbrooke their sixth consecutive loss of the season. Wide receiver Gilles Colon led the way for the team, catching two Sylvain Desrochers passes for 22 and 54 yard touchdowns and returning a punt 55 yards to pay dirt to start the fourth quarter. “This is where our climb begins,” said Colon after the game. “A win is a win, and now we have to go to Acadia and continue to do exactly that.” Quarterback Sylvain Desrochers was near perfect in two and a half quarters of work, completing 15 of 22 passes for 283 yards and three touchdowns. The Montreal native said afterwards that while the win was sweet, the team needs to take the momentum with them to Acadia next weekend. “Obviously it feels good to win, no matter who we play,” said Desrochers to reporter’s after the game. “This is a confidence builder for the team, we dictated play and this is something we have to do next week.” Other leaders for the Gaiters on the day included running back Michel Foures-Wilson, who had 153 yards on 18 carries and three rushing touchdowns, and wide-receiver David Delaby who had 88 yards receiving on 5 receptions and two touchdowns. Bishop’s leaves Thursday for the long trip to Acadia. Game time is 1:00 p.m (12:00 p.m, eastern) on Saturday, October 12, 2003.
