For the first time since before the turn of the century, the 2005 Bishop’s Lady Gaiters women’s rugby team failed to qualify for the post-season. Bishop’s finished the season with a 1-5 record, with their lone win coming against cross-town rivals Sherbrooke.

Helping to lead the way for the Lady Gaiters this season was Cailin McCullogh of Orleans, Ontario who was named to the conference all-star team.

Lady Gaiters drop tough match to Laval Oct. 12, 2005
The Gaiters traveled to Ste. Foy over the weekend to take on the Laval Rouge et Or in a rainy Thanksgiving Day match-up between the two rivals, with Laval ultimately triumphing by a score of 38- 0.

Despite the loss, the Gaiters received inspired performances from scrum- half Stephanie Campbell as well as Gaiter Athlete of the Week Andrea Channell, both of whom helped keep the Gaiters defense in the game.

Unfortunately for Bishop’s the loss to Laval marks their final game of the season as the team failed to advance to the playoffs for the first time since 1999.
