The completed replacement diploma application is required, along with any of the requirements stated below that are pertinent to the particular case.

Degrees – Reissuing – no duplicates reissued unless:

LOST/DESTROYED

  • Requires proof, a written affidavit from a lawyer, notary or court clerk, attesting to the fact that it has been lost, stolen or destroyed.
  • Requires a certified cheque or money order made out to Bishop’s University in the amount of $56.95 Canadian.

NAME CHANGE

  • Legal name change
    • requires written affidavit and the original diploma returned.
    • charges apply as per #2 above.
  • Due to marital status –  returning to maiden name
    • the original must be returned to Bishop’s.
    • charges apply as per #2 above.
  • Damaged diploma
    • must be returned to the University.
    • charges apply as per #2 above.
  • Minor change or mistake – verify that the name is legal and not a nickname, etc.
    • usually these will occur shortly after Convocation
    • the original diploma must be returned to Bishop’s
    • replacement costs will be charged if a new one has to be printed; verify costs at the time with the Registrar’s Office.
    • if error has been made through the University, the diploma will be replaced at no cost to the graduate.

Notes:

The new diploma requires the wording “This is a copy of a diploma granted on [date of the convocation at which the diploma was originally awarded]” and “Printed on [date of printing]” written under the signatures.

A red seal is attached and the University crest is pressed on top of it.

The signatures of the Chancellor and the Registrar will be of the persons presently in office.
