Jane Austen at Bishop’s University

Sherbrooke QC - 12 March, 2009

No literary world has a life more rich and wonderful than that occupied by the beautiful and strong-minded Elizabeth Bennet and the proud master of Pemberley, Mr. Darcy.

Bishop’s University brings Jane Austen’s most celebrated novel to the stage in a lavish spectacle featuring the talents of our finest student actors, faculty, and visiting artists. In addition the novel will be explored in three lectures by Austen scholars. Please join us for an Eastern Townships weekend of Pride and Prejudice.

PRIDE & PREJUDICE – THE PLAY: March 12 - 15
Centennial Theatre at 8:00 pm.
Stage adaptation by George Rideout, directed by Gregory Tuck.

Saturday 14th from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

“Getting Around Pride & Prejudice: Gothicism, Fairy Tales & the Very World of all Us”

Austen’s Narrative Voice: Film Adaptations of Pride and Prejudice.

Presentations will be followed by an English Tea at Uplands Cultural & Heritage Centre.

Sunday March 15th from 10:00 am – noon.

Sunday offers symposium goers the opportunity to join the community for an appropriately Austen service in our magnificent St. Mark’s Chapel (10:00).

Light refreshment will be served immediately afterwards in the Cleghorn Common Room where George Rideout and Greg Tuck will be present to answer questions about the adaptation and production.
