Former Special Advisor to George W. Bush will Speak at Bishop’s University

13 September, 2010

SHERBROOKE, QC—Toronto-born, Washington, D.C.-based author and political activist David Frum will speak at Bishop’s University as part of the Donald Lecture Series on Thursday, September 16 at 7:00 pm in Centennial Theatre.

Until March, 2010 Frum was a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a Washington-based conservative think-tank. He was ousted after he publicly criticised the Republican Party’s handling of President Obama’s Healthcare Reform Act and denounced the frequent use of overheated rhetoric and pseudo-information by many conservatives.

“David Frum is an intelligent and informed commentator who has been an articulate advocate for the ideas and causes he believes in,” said Michael Goldbloom, Bishop’s University Principal and Vice-Chancellor, “He is someone who is not afraid to speak out forcefully, either in favour of what he believes is right, or against those whom he sees as diminishing the quality of public debate.”

David Frum is currently editor of FrumForum.com, a website dedicated to the renewal of the Republican Party and the conservative movement. He previously served as a special advisor to President George W. Bush and was senior foreign policy advisor to the Rudy Giuliani presidential campaign.

Frum is a best-selling author of six books including Comeback: Conservatism That Can Win Again and The Right Man: The Surprise Presidency of George W. Bush. He is a regular commentator on American Public Media’s “Marketplace” and writes weekly columns for a number of newspapers, including The National Post.
