Rick Mercer, Donald Johnston Among Distinguished Canadians to be Honoured by Bishop’s University

SHERBROOKE, QC—Bishop’s University will recognize the outstanding accomplishments of four distinguished Canadians at its Convocation ceremonies this month.

Economist and financial journalist Dian Cohen, lawyer, politician and former OECD Secretary-General Donald J. Johnston, popular political satirist Rick Mercer, and former Sherbrooke Mayor Jean Perrault will each be awarded an honorary Doctor of Civil Law (DCL).

“These four remarkably talented Canadians have each made a distinctive mark in their respective fields,” said Bishop’s University Principal Michael Goldbloom, “Bishop’s University is proud to recognize their unique contributions to public life.”

The four honorands will join the 490 graduates of Bishop’s University’s class of 2010 at its Convocation ceremonies on June 12. A morning Convocation ceremony will take place at 10:30 am for all graduates earning the Bachelor of Arts degree, with all other degree candidates graduating in an afternoon ceremony at 3:00 pm.
