MacDonald’s latest composition to premier in Toronto

Sherbrooke, QC - 22 February, 2010

Bishop’s University music professor Andrew  Paul MacDonald’s latest composition, Ode To The West Wind, will be premiered in  Toronto at Roy Thomson Hall on Saturday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. The featured  world premiere is part of of the closing concert of Toronto’s New Creations  Festival.

MacDonald’s Ode will be narrated by  well-known film and theatre star Colm Feore, accompanied by the Toronto  Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Oundjian. Commissioned by the Toronto  Symphony Orchestra, MacDonald’s setting of Shelley’s Ode ToThe West Wind for  narrator and orchestra was completed in September of 2009. MacDonald’s works  are being featured on concert programmes across the country of late; on  February 28 a portion of his new opera, Mary’s Wedding, will be performed in  Toronto by members of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble and in Victoria on  March 8 by Pacific Opera Victoria.
