An examination of mythology and cultic practices within Israelite society, as reflected in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. Extra-biblical texts and archaeological evidence will be used to contextualize the biblical material. Topics include: Israelite god Yahweh; monotheism and polytheism; goddess worship; magic; child sacrifice.
